Today we are diving into mindset tips to stay on track with a healthy real food lifestyle.

Maintaining good nutrition requires more than just willpower; it involves cultivating the right mindset and using effective strategies to stay consistent.

Here are five mindset tips that can help you stay on track:

Tip #1 - Journaling

Take a few minutes each day to write down your thoughts, feelings, and progress. This practice can help you identify patterns, celebrate your successes, and address any challenges you face.

Journaling provides clarity and keeps you accountable. It does not need to be perfect, it can be really messy, it doesn't even need to be every day.

 

Tip #2 - Self Compassion

Be kind to yourself. If you have a setback, don’t beat yourself up. Acknowledge it, learn from it, and move forward. Practicing self-compassion helps maintain a positive mindset and reduces the likelihood of giving up.

A pro tip to be more self-compassionate: next time you face a setback imagine how you would talk to a friend, pet or child - talk to yourself in that way, practice being your own friend.

 

Tip #3 - Taking a Short Pause

Next time you feel the urge to eat something unhelpful, take a short pause to check in with yourself. Take 3 deep breaths, tune into your body and ask yourself (with kindness) "What is happening for me right now? Am I truly hungry, or is it emotional or habitual eating? Is there some other way I can soothe myself in this moment?"

This pause helps you make mindful choices and reinforces your commitment to nourishing your body with good food.

 

Tip #4 - Visualisation

If you have a big event coming up, or you are worried about staying on track when out with your friends, spend a few moments the night before visualising your success. Imagine how you will successfully navigate tricky situations (like people offering birthday cake). Imagine what you will say ("that looks great, but not for me thanks").

Visualise how great you will feel eating nutrition food, how energetic you feel when you stay on track, and how your body thrives on healthy real food. Visualisation is an easy way to boost your motivation and reinforce your goals.
